In the 3rd Henry II [1157], Robert de Ros paid 1,000 marks of silver
to t he king for livery of the lands inherited by his mother from her
brothe r, Walter Espec. This Robert was a munificent benefactor to the
Knights Te mplars. He m. Sybell de Valoines (who, after his decease,
m. Ralph de Albi ni) and dying sometime about the middle of the 12th
