Fred Curry: Professional wandererA former Ellsworth resident, Fred Sherriff Curry, 94, diedJanuary 7, 1984 at the Veterans Administration Medical center inSeattle, Ash.He was born in 1889, the son of Harry M. Curry and MargaretSherriff Curry, early residents of Ellsworthwhere his father wasa druggist.Curry was a 1908 graduate of Ellsworth High School, andtravelled extensively in the West and Canada before serving inWorld War I.After the death of his wife, the former Elizabeth Ransley, in1960 on a farm near Wichita, Curry returned to live in Ellsworthuntil 1978 when he moved to Seattle.He was a member of World War I Veterans and the VFW in Ellsworthand a member of the Masonic Lodge, Douglass, Kan.He is survived by two sons, Henry Curry, Seattle, and FrankCurry, Overland Park; two daughters, Janet Lowe, Seattle, andElizabeth Todd, Tustin, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 13great-grandchildren; and two hreat-great-grandchildren.At his wish, ther were no services.
