In Clerk of Court records, Vol. I, p. 314 on 30 Mar 1830 a suitwas filed. James Currey appears on the 1812 tax lists forGallia County. The 1820 census for Gallia Co. shows a James Curry as head of ahousehold containing 1 male and 2 females ages 0-10, 1 male age10-16, 4 males and 3 females age 16-26 and one female age 26-45.James Curry would have been 19 at the time and possibly was oneof the 16-26 males--though why the father wasn't enumerated as amale over 26 is a question. In 1821 the only Curry on the tax list for Gallia is SamuelCurry living in Wilkesville Twp. By 1822 there is Samuel inWilkesville and Stephen in Gallipolis. By 1824 there are John,Mary, Samuel's heirs and Susannah in Wilkesville Township andStephen in Gallipolis Township. Same for 1825 but no Johnlisted. In 1830, households are listed for both James and James Jr.James Curry's household consisted of one male 40-50 only. JamesJr.'s house hold had 2 females 0-5, 3 males 10-15, 2 males15-20, 2 males and one female 20-30 (James Jr., his wife, andanother adult male) and one female 40-50. This would suggestthat James Curry's father was also named James; and, if so,possibly the elder James's wife had left him and gone to livewith her son and his family. The five males between the ages of10 and 20 could not have been children of James Jr., and theextra male in his 20's is also unaccounted for.The 1850 census (9/19/1850) gives James Curry's occupation as astonecutter. 1860 Census, Gallipolis:Curry, James VA Brickmason OHCurry, Susan 50MECurry, Mary 33OHCurry, Francis 18OHCurry, Lucy 15OH1870 Gallia Co.
