Frederick Bovee, the son of Cornelius Bovee and Lucretia Bailywas baptized 23 August 1801 by Samuel Smith Pastor in TioshokeProtestant Reformed Dutch Church, Hoosic, Rensselaer County,New York. On 1 October 1803 Deacon Cornelius Bevier was presentat a meeting of the Tioshoke Protestant Reformed Church, inHoosic. Samuel Smith of Saratoga organized the Tioshoke Church 2May 1792. He was installed as Pastor 5 July 1794 and wasdismissed 31 May 1800. A union was formed with the SaratogaChurch at Schuylerville 26 February 1794 which lasted untilSamuel Smith's Pastorate ended. Tioshoke was located 12 mileseast of Schaighticoke and St. Coik also called St. Croix andSanhaick still further east.Frederick and Mercy do not appear in the Gallia Co. census until1850, indicating that they married elsewhere and come toGallipolis in the 1840's. However, their oldest child Lucretiawas 19 in 1850, and all of the children were born in Ohio.
