1 THOMAS1 BRADBURY,(+) Capt. and Mr., of Salisbury, bp. Feb. 1610-11, at Wicken-Bonant,
Essex Co., Eng.; free. May, 1640; recd. land in the "first division," 1640 and 1641; one of the most
prominent citizens of S.--town clerk, schoolmaster, justice of the peace, rep. in General Court seven
years, 1651-'66, county recorder, associate judge, etc. Most of the ancient records of S., and many
of the county, were written by him. He was of York, Me., 1634; m. ab. 1636, MARY2 PERKINS
(John1) of Ipswich. Capt. and Mrs. Bradbury were second on list of S. chh. members, 1687. He d.
March 16, 1694-5[S]; will, Feb. 14, 1694. Wid. Mary d. Dec. 20, 1700[S]. She was tried for
witchcraft in 1692, ably and courageously defended by Maj. Robert Pike, convicted, but not
executed. The papers pertaining to the case are of deep interest, and show the high estimation in
