(IV) Benjamin, eldest son of Solomon and Sarah Norton, was born February 24, 1699, in Salisbury, and settled in Newbury, where he died February 27, 1756. He married (first) in Newbury, June 14, 1722, Margaret Richardson, There were six children of this marriage: Judith, 1723; Joshua, November 4, 1728; Hannah, died young; Benjamin, August 11, 1734, died young; Hannah, March 5, 1737; Miriam, August 6, 1739.
Benjamin Norton married (second) December 5, 1744, Mercy Shute, born April 18, 1710, in Malden, Massachusetts, daughter of Richard and Lydia Shute. Children recorded in Newbury: Mary, born September 12, 1745; Benjamin, mentioned below: Sarah, May 24, 1751.
