T(H)IELEN - FINAUT DATABASE
I research the Tielen and Finaut families already for more then 25 years. The Tielen - also written Thielen - family originates from the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. The family goes back to the early 17th century and from there under a different name to the end of the 15th century. The Finaut family originates from the province of West Flanders in Belgium and goes back to the early 17th century. Before that the family probably originates from the North of France. The Finaut's have branches in The Netherlands and the United States. There also is a Fine(h)out family in the United States which already is mentioned about 1640. This family probably is also a branch of the Finaut family but sofar I have not been able to prove this. Where you find notes attached to individual persons concerning the Finaut family, you will find the English translation usually after the Dutch text, so don't be disappointed if you cannot read it initially.
