The Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records states that Augustine Cecile Gonzales was born on December 31, 1864 and baptized on January 27, 1865 in the Ascension chruch parish. Her parents were Desire Gonzales and "Bellina" Suarez, and her sponsers were Manuel Alvarez and Rosalie Suarez. (Chruch Record: ASC - 12,335)
The 1930 Census states that Mrs. Joe Babin was 55 years old, a widow, and living in New Orleans, Louisiana, at 2009 Burgundy Street. The other members of the household were: daughter Mary (32), daughter Clara Anderson (31), "son" Dalfas Robichaux (3), son Anthony (29), son Linwood (19), son Vernon (22), son Thomas (18), son Charlie (16), son Varley (14), daughter Agatha (12), and uncle Anthony Gonzales (38). All members of the household (and their parents) were born in Louisiana, could speak English, and could read and write. Agatha had attended school during the year. Mrs. Joe Babin professions was noted as "none", Mary was a seamstress for a tailor, Clara's was "none", Anthony was a laborer "anywhere", Linwood was a helper in the warehouse district, Vernon was a boilermaker at a plant, Thomas, Varley, and Agatha had "none" listed as their occupation, and Anthony Gonzales was a laborer "anywhere". The New Orleans, Louisiana Death Records Index, 1804-1949 Record states that Augustine Gonzales Haase Babin died on October 28, 1933 at the age of 68 and was white. (Volume 205, Page 910)
