RESEARCH: From Goodspeeds, Rutherford Co, Tennessee
Col. Robert WEAKLEY and Robert BEDFORD each owned grants at the confluence of the east and we st forks of Stones River. These lands were taken up previous to 1800. It was largely through the influence of these two men that the first seat of justice was located at Jefferson. William NASH, who, with Col. WEAKLEY, surveyed the line separating Rutherford from Davidson, is said to have owned the first store in the county.
