Notes
Individual:
Per Leo Causey: You might not be interested in this, but, here is a little about Minerva Jane Bailey Bounds. She had three sons in the Civil War. One of them was killed at Marietta, Georgia. Her son Winnfield was my ancestor. Winnfield and the other son, I don't have his name right here, are the
only ones of that family that came to Texas. Minerva Jane had a church house and a school house built and insisted that their slaves learn to read and write. This happened when it wasn't popular for blacks to read and write. She let them attend church services but made them stand up in the rear of the building. I guess it was because of other people that she had them stand up. They buried slaves that died on the edge of the Bounds Cemetery. This all took place near Big Creek, Mississippi. Hayman Bailey was Minerva's grand father and there were LOTS of Methodist preachers. Minerva Jane had two
Grand sons in Texas who became Methodist preachers. I may have told you this.MH:N7D0446135-D74B-4EC8-A9C3-FB8623C13A67
