Individual:
Died by lightning
George and Hannah were pioneers in Gladwin Co. George came over from Canada as
the first of his family and then wrote back and encourged the rest of the
family to come. Hannah's father had a homestead near George's, so the story
goes, and when she came to get water the romance blossomed. When her father
learned of it he hustled her back to Canada, but she corresponded with George
and he encouraged her to meet him in Saginaw and get married. When her father
heard that she was going to do this he gave in and accompanied her to Saginaw
and saw her married. This couple had eight children and seven of them lived to
grow up.
