Individual:
According to Bettie Nebergall, Laura was a very pretty woman with a great sense of humor. She said that Laura's husband, Uncle Will, didn't seem to have much luck making a living. After he died, Laura took in laundry to support her children. Per Bettie, Laura's son, Harold, left Betty Jane and Norma Jean with Laura and Will when Norma Jean and Betty Jane were about 3 years and 18 months, respectively. Harold and his wife "went on vacation" and didn't come back to get the kids. About eight years after leaving with Laura, she found Harold and his wife in Detroit. Eventually, the family deeded the house to Laura. She was a real lady who deserved more, according to Bettie.
