Individual:
Emigrated to Virginia in abt 1710. Early in the 18th century, under the direction of Peter Chambers, a large Scotch colony was formed on the upper Rappahannock. For a number of years, he would acquaint himself with the arrival of immigrant ships, and if there were any Scotch on board, he would persuade them to unite with the Rappahannock settlement.
