The following Christmas Egg Nog Recipe has been made on Christmas eve in the Mentch family every year. The recipe was handed down from Sophronia Cary Lindsey and is as follows:
9 eggs, separated1 quart whole milk
3/4 c sugar1 oz rum flavor
1/2 pint whipping cream 1 pint bourbon (4 Roses)
Beat egg whites until stiff. Whip cream until stiff. Beat yolks until creamy. Combine whites and cream. Add yolks and
fold in remainder of ingredients. Stir well and let stand to blend. Serve with a dash of nutmeg. Keep Cold. Makes one gallon. The 4 Roses Bourbon has not been produced for over 50 years. It is delicious. Usually it was kept outside in the snow to keep cold.
