Individual:
[carylsinton-1-65ben.ged]
LBS notes: "I am convinced that the first Benjamin, 1640, [he is traditional]
was never in Ireland, and that probably his son Joseph was not either. There
is a record of an Elinor Sinton (Widow) and two sons on the Friends list - I
have not the date. Her name often appears as witness at marriages or similar
events among the Quakers. Walter Lyon Sinton is my authority for the statement
that the Friends were given a grant to have a meeting house at Moyallon in
1685." See "Immigration of the Quakers into Pennsylvania" (Penrose) also.
She is thought to be the same person who witnessed the marriage of Jacob Sinton to Sarah Mack ie of Ballylhagan 1730, and signed her name "Elinor Sinton" in the mother's place.
She is also mentioned as witness to the marriage of George Thompson to Margaret Grands at th e house of Robert Hoope, Lurgen 1695.
