Marvel and MaryYoung on 12 March 1849Jun 8 1909: dropped pension of Mary Marvel due to death on 2 May1909Nov 8 1909: application for reimbursement of expenses for MaryMarvelWhile I am still working at figuring out all of the writing in theaffidavit's, I gather John W. left Mary for a period of years and thatshe raised the children on their own.The dozen or so pages I have from the military file primarily list hisposition as teamster as well a copy of his reenlistment papers. Whilecertainly nothing of great revelation I find them interesting.I have seen both sets (for his two enlistments ) of his originaldischarge papers at my father's house. However, much to my frustration,my father cannot find them at this time. Apparently John W. was paid totake the place of another for his second term of service. My father relates that his father, A.T. Marvel, told of having to leadhis grandfather, John W., around the house when he was a boy as John W.was totally blind.
