Individual:
William of Woburn and Billerica, Massachusetts was one of the supposed three sons of Francis Chamberlain who first arrived in the new world at Elizabethtown, Virginia abour 1635. William, Thomas and Edmund were also there about that time, but of course, were much younger than Francis. Because of an Indian massacre, the brothers apparently were part of the group which fled to New England by ship. William was accepted into Woburnn in 1648 and sold his land by 1651 and moved to Billerica, a small settlement in the wilderness on a plot of land called the Dudly Farm. Here lived out his life in relative prosperity (he could read and write), serving as the constable at one point. He had married Rebecca Shelly/Addington (There are good arguments for both names) who bore him 13 children.
Rebecca died, a victim of th efatuation of that time in the prison at Cambridge on 26 Sept. 1692. No documentation, however, has in any way connected her to witchcraft, although she could have been held merely as a witness. William lived until 1706, dying in Billerica aged about 86 years old.
