Individual:
As with many marriages and baptisms of Phillips family members 'of the castle', the baptism of Richard is recorded at a parish church in Shropshire, rather than in Wales. This is problematic; it may be that the family had holdings or estates in Shropshire, of that a family member was the bishop or parish priest at one or more of these Shropshire parish churches. See the map on the Picton Castle photo page at our FTM web site; Shrophire adjoined Wales, but would have been a day's journey or more from the castle.
