Individual:
He was Captain in the difficult 1690 expedition to Canada, Colonel in 1706,1707, Councillor to Gov. Dudley 1703 to 1713. He resided in Weymouth as did his brother Capt. John but he was employed in Braintree to a considerable extent in laying out lands and in 1700 when the "Purchase Lands" (now chiefly Randolph & Holbrook) were acquired from Boston he was employed in the matter and was voted by the town of Braintree to hold an equal share with the other one hundred men who made the purchase and divided the lands into six divisions of twenty six lots in each and five shares as parts in each lot for the five partners of the lot. Each man had one fifth of a lot, there being twenty such lots in each of the six divisions, plus smaller individual shares in the swamp lands which were divided separately. Col. Ephraim Hunt and his brother John were large land holders in Braintree as they had already in 1698 purchased the 599 acre "Moore's Farm" from Edmund Quincy estate, part of which remained in the family a long time.

He also was engaged in ship building on the Braintree side of Smelt Brook at Weymouth - Braintree line in the 1690's as shown by entries in his still extant account book.
