Davenport, John, late of Stamford, will dated Nov. 16, 1742, probated Mar. 14, 1743, mentions his wife Sarah, and children John, Sarah, Joseph, Nathan, Goold, Deodate, Ebenezer, Thaddeus, Silas, Hezekiah, Josiah, Stephen, Martha, and Elizabeth. Executors his wife and his brother Abraham Davenport. Witnesses Benjamin Weed and Alexander Bishop, page 220. Inventory taken Mar. 18, 1743, by Samuel Hait and Joseph Bishop, and filed May 3, 1743, page 223. Jan. 5, 1745, Abraham Davenport was appointed by the court guardian of the following children of decedent, viz: Silas, age 9, Josiah, age 6, Elizabeth age 10, and the following children made choice of their mother, Sarah Davenport, to be their guardian, viz: Nathan, age 18, Goold, age 17, Deodate, age 16, and Martha, age 14, page 272. Jan. 6, 1745, Sarah Davenport was appointed by the court guardian of her children viz: Ebenezer, age 12, Thaddeus, age 11, Hezekiah, age 7, and Stephen, age 4, page 273. Apr. 4, 1749, the following children of decedent being now deceased, viz: Nathan, Thaddeus, Josiah, and Stephen, instructions as to distribution were asked for of the court, page 360.
