Notes
Individual:
He appears as a typical leader among the Norman nobles, proud of his connection with the Dukes of Normandy, contemptuous of the base-born Duke William. Founded the Benedictine Abbey of St. Peter and St. Paul Chatillon. He is said to have been the first to carry Norman arms to the Spanish Peninsula. He was sent to Spain by King Henry I of France to aid King Ferdinand. This rough Normann leader was known for his cruely and invincibility. It was in Spain that he found his wife. When William became the Duke of Normandy, Roger joined the revolt against him. But in a fight with Roger De Beaumont, both Roger and his 2 sons, Herbert and Helmant, were killed.
