From History of Forsyth County, Vol. II by Garland C. Bagley:
MEMORIAL TO SARAH BENNETT
Last Charter Member of Salem Church to Pass Away
One by one the old poeple of our county are passing away. Old Sister
Bennett (commonly know as Granny) breather her last breath at the home of her
son-in-law, John Bennett December 9, 1892 and was entered in Salem Cemetery.
Brother H. C. Conner conducting the funeral services in a solemn and
impressive manner. She was one of the few women that had passed 4 score years
being in her 94th year at the time of her death. It is not known just how
long she had been a member of the church but from the best information about
70 years. She was in the constitution of the Salem Church and remained a
consistent member until her death, being the last member in the constitution.
She lived as she died, peaceful and happy, leaving many relatives, sons,
daughters and grandchildren to the generations we can say.
