Individual:
Toby Turner sent these notes regarding Terisha:Although not mentioned specifically mentioned in Old Terisha'sWill, his name has been added to the list of Old Terisha'schildren. It appears obvious that he died before his father. When one considers that his widow, Frances (Lyon) was not oldenough to remarry on December 28, 1772 without her parents'consent (Bailey Genealogy - this needs checking as I show aFrances Lyon marrying in 1794), so they must have been veryyoung. A Frances Lyon married John Boyd on October 27, 1794 sohe must have died sometime before that date. The following information refers to a Terisha Turner, Jr. whoprobably is Stephen's son and Old Terisha's namesake. But, hecould be 'our' Terisha. In The 1787 Census of Virginia in Amherst County PersonalProperty Tax 1787 - List "A", on page 179, the household of aTerisha Turner is shown to consist of no white males above 16and under 21, 2 blacks above 16, 2 blacks below 16, 3 horses, mares, colts, and/or mules, and 6 cattle. Is there a mistake onwhen Frances married, or does the 1794 date refer to a thirdmarriage? Does this refer to 'our' Terisha or to Stephen's son,Terisha? In the 1790 Census, as of 1782, he is shown as head of ahousehold consisting of 4 white members. He's listed as TerishaTurner, Jr. If there's a mistake on Frances' remarriage datethis could be 'our' Terisha. So, is this 'our' Terisha orStephen's Terisha? -Toby Turner
