| John Pollok III 1 |
1. From our souce Bill Polk's notes: "John was killed at the Conflict of Locherby (Battle of Lecherbie) in 1593, along with his kinsman, Lord Maxwell. They were fighting the forces of the Laird of Johnstone. William Harrison Polk, in his 'Polk Family and Kinsmen,' 1912, pp. 4-5, apparently believed this John De Pollok, son of John De Pollok [who was son of 'Brucii de Pollok,'] was the ancestor of the Polks who stayed in Scotland, as on those two pages he writes: 'John De Pollok [who he shows in his chart as the son of John De Pollok] was killed at the faction fight of Leckerbie (in 1593), while assisting his kinsman, Lord Maxwell, against the Laird of John's Stone. From the (A. D. 1439) famous noble sprang the illustrious line of Pollok of that ilk...." Pollok of that ilk referring to the Pollok [later Pollock] line in Scotland."
