BIRTH: Final settlement of Ann Boardman's estate recorded in Jefferson County, IN Probate Order Book #12, pages 486-490 states that Ann Boardman, wife of Joseph Boardman was the sister of John Martin and Thomas Martin, who were alive at the time of her death, and Robert Martin and James Martin who were deceased at the time of her death. Records (#21428) of Spring Grove Cemetery give his birth date as July 1832, Place:England, Parents: Thomas & Alice Martin.
DEATH: Hamilton Co., Ohio Death Records Vol. 3, Pg. 73, Rec# 272. Died of Typhoid Fever. The Cincinnati Enquirer, 20 Aug 1870, had an obituary stating that Robert Martin's funeral would be held at his home on 21 Aug 1870. His address in the paper is 404 West Front St., Cincinnati. He is buried in Sec. 17, Lot 157, in an unmarked grave. The lot is the property of Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. (formerly Cincinnati Gas, Light & Coke, his employer.)
NOTE: Robert Martin was a Lieutenant in the Cincinnati Home Guard during the Civil War. The modern-day equivalent of the National Guard.
