Individual:
DIED: Holland City News, November 19, 1908
NOTE: Travelled by canal boat to Buffalo via Albany, and then by steamer to Grand Haven. From there they were taken by horse-drawn flat-boat to Holland. (The horses were walked along the beach, drawing the boat along.)
NOTE:"Dutch Immigrants on U.S. Ship Passenger Lists 1820-1880" (Vol. 1) and "Dutch Immigrants to the United States, South Africa, South America and Southeast Asia 1835-1880" both by Swierenga (Holland Library call number r929.3 SW1). Both list Jacob De Feijter as follows: Jacob De Feijter, his wife and 2 sons arrived in NY on 6 July 1847. He booked steerage class passage on the "Princess Sophia" out of Rotterdam. He is classified as a workman on one index and a self-employed farmer on the other. His age is 29 on one list and 30 on the other. His religion is listed as "Seceder: Christian Reformed". The "Passenger List" shows only 2 children, but the "Dutch Immigrant" list shows 3 children. They list his home as Baarland, Zeeland, HOL.
