It is thought he moved to Milton, near Rochester, as the Church Registry there records the ma rriage of three of his children:
Sydney, Arabella and Emily.
Notes of JRMC:
The Milton in question is much more likely to be Milton Chapel near Canterbury, .. there is e vidence of a Folkestone branch of Chalks, (John), settling and marrying here, who were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers).
This link can be considered confirmed, but is still contradictory with William's parents bein g John Chalk and Susannah HAMMOND as almost all family sources indicate .. as well as reference to his sister Katherine who marries her cousin Charles Hammond)
Birth recorded at both Canterbury and Folkestone in Quaker QM records
If aged 27 at date of mariage (1796) then he was born in 1769! Which would confirm the Folk estone connection. there is much other evidence now to support this connection.
Date of birth on QD shown as 1767 .. this is not possible if the Dob of John is correct.
There is information suggesting he was a foundling, but this does not fit with his birth dat e and parents being recorded on the QD.
Nickalls family sources show he was a doctor, again there must be doubt about this as marriag e docs. show 'Linen Draper'
