Individual:
John Served in the Spanish-American war and served his full term. He was discharged at Baker,California in 1905. He returned to Garnett,Kansas where he met and married Nora Etta Halstead.
They lived in and around Garnett area and he worked as a farmer, a painter and doing odd jobs. Later on, probably in the early 30's they moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas and that is where they remained until John was hospitalized in the VA hospital in Fayetteville. He died in this hospital.

John F Hardesty, 77, resident of Prairie Grove since 1931, died at a local hospital at 5:10 a.m., yesterday after a week's illiness.
Mr Hardesty was born March 6,1874 at Garnett,Kansas, the son of Joseph and Virginia Hardesty.
In addition to his wife of the home he is survived by four sons, Lee of Salina,Kansas,Frank and Dale, both of Shreveport,Louisiana, and Henry of Sharps Park,California, one daughter, Mrs Hugh Rogers, Prairie Grove; 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and one brother, Charley ,of Salina,Kansas.
Funeral services will be tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock, in the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Prairie Grove by the Rev G I Bidwell; burial will be in the Prairie Grove cemetery under the direction of Nelson's funeral home.

Funeral services for John F Hardesty, 77, of Prairie Grove, who died Wednesday, were conducted yesterday morning in the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Prairie Grove by the Rev G D Bidwell of Prairie Grove.
Pall bearers were L A Carmen, D L Rieff, L E Maupin, Jack Bartholomew, Burl Horton, and Rev Bidler. Arrangements were in charge of Nelson's funeral home.
John was less than 6 foot tall, but heavy set. He had a receding hairline and his eyes were brown in color.
