Marriage:
John Married First Hannah Hawley, daughter of Samuel, and sister of
Joseph of Stratford. they (John and Hannah) "agreed to disagree," andshe divorced him on grounds that he was "unqualified for the maritalrelation." She then married someone else. The New Haven ColonyCourt, which granted the divorce, felt badly used and made an inquirywhen John sought to marry Martha Nettleton, then an apprentice inThomas Ufford's household. The marriage was permitted.Arrived in Boston September 16, 1632, with parents. He and his first
wife, Hannah Hawley, were divorced soon after their marriage.
