1770, second son of George Griffin and Eve Dorr of East Haddam. Hegraduated at Yale 1790, and was a congregational clergyman. He m. 17May, 1796, Frances Huntington, b. 14 Sept., 1769, at Coventry, Conn.,niece and adopted daughter of Gov., Samuel Huntington of Norwich, andsister of Gov., Samuel Huntington of Ohio. She was a daughter of Rev.Joseph Huntington, D.D., of Coventry, and was one of his ten childrenby his first wife, Hannah Devotion, daughter of Rev. Ebenezer Devotionof Windham, and granddaughter of Rev. Ebenezer Devotion of Suffield.
Her father, the Rev. Joseph Huntington, born at Windham, 5 May, 1735, was the fourth son of Nathaniel Huntington and Mehitable Thruston ofWindham, and grandson of Joseph Huntington the first of Windham,andRebecca Adgate, his wife, and grandson of Deacon Simon Huntington, oneof the original proprietors of Norwich.
