Individual:
Thomas lost his left eye when he was 3 years old while he and his brother were playing with tannic acid, and his brother accidently spilled the acid on his face. Thomas came to Fayette Co, Ohio from New Jersey, then on to Marion Co, Iowa in 1854.
While visiting his daughter Lydia in Fayette Co, Ohio, he was struck with Cholera and died there on Aug. 16, 1866, he is buried at the Staunton Methodist Church Cemetery along with several family members.
