An 1899 graduate of the Universitydied unexpectedly at 11:30 o'clock this morning at his home, 601 N7th. Mr. Turner was born near Hallsville on Nov. 23, 1872 to JamesPerry Turner and Mary Olivia Sturgeon. He married Ida Olive Shipe onMay 31, 1899. She preceded him in death Nov. 1941. He married Mrs.Beulah B. Hawkins on
Sept 9, 1942.
Survivors, besides the widow include, a son Joe T. Turner of University City, 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers: Alonzo T of Chula Vista,CA, Dr. George L T of Pacific Palisades, CA and Claude P T ofAuxvasse. 3 sisters Mrs. Mary D Cox of Centralia, Mrs. Joe Brown ofRocheport and Mrs. Orme McCammon 813 Clinkscale Rd. He was one of 11children, 2 died in infancy, a sister died at age 7 and anotherbrother Dr. John W T died in 1926.
Mr. Turner was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary Engineer Fraternity. The Kappa Sigma Social Frat. and the First Baptist Church.
He was employed by David Ranken Jr. School of Mechanical Trades in St. Louis for 23 years as administrator and instructor. He retired fromschool work and returned here in 1936.
