Individual:
Left Europe in August of 1842, landed in New York in October. Traveled by boat to Albany, New York, and canal to Buffalo, New York. Over the Great Lakes to Toledo, Ohio and by frozen river to Ft. Jennings, Ohio.[cleankroeger.FTW]
According to the Delphos Centenial Book of 1978, Casper Mesker was one of the
original settlers in Delphos. Leaving Germany in Sept of 1842 arriving in
New York in October.Tjhey continued their journey by boat to Albany, NY and then by canal to Buffalo, NY. Taking lake vessels to Cleveland then Toledo and
a riverboat down the Maumee River to Napoleon Ohio. Their boat became frozen in
the river at Napoleon. They then travelled by wagon to Fort Jennings Ohio
where a winter storm stopped them in January of 1843. Fort Jennings settlers took them in until
spring when they continued their journey to Delphos.
Found Casper in the 1850 census page 326B (Sept). Shows Casper as 36 Clara as 28. Mary as 5 and a Elisa as 8 months (not shown in later census's)
