My father, Charles J. Halford grew up living near his grandarents "Joe King" and "Carrie" Cox. He was a good storyteller and his children loved the stories!
Joe King Cox always ahd a lot of bee hives and wore a "bee bonnet" when he gathered the honey.
Joe King Cox made barrells of wine. Some grandsons were foolish enough to take a brace and bit and make a hole and swipe a fruit jar full of wine. They forgot to figure a way to stop the wine running out after the jar was full. Grandpa Joe King was not happy that day! The stories go on and on.
Joe King cleaned the blackberry vines out of his fence row one day. The vines were dead and the thorns were sharp, Joe King developed blood poison which caused his death. Charles J. was 16 years old the month his grandfather died.
