The following message was from an email from Bob G. Quinn, Indialantic, FL:
I believe my Ashford Leander Quinn was born in Spartanburg, SC in mid 1798. He died in North GA. in 1864 or 65. He is buried at Mossey Creek, GA. His mother may have been Cherokee which may explain the lack of SC records. He may have been considered a half-breed! Ashford lived in Habersham, Hall and White Co. GA. His wife was Mary Ann Halsey.
His Georgia estate settlement papers listed his heirs as---Nancy E. Dunnagan, Julius Quinn, Sarah E. Quinn Davidson, Theodore Quinn- Grandson, Tilman S. Quinn, P & M. J. Faulkner and B. A. Quinn (My GG Grandfather).
He may have had a sons named Anderson and Davinda. Extensive research has been done on Nancy, Julius, Sarah, Tilman, and B A. Nothing is known about the others. His wife's Halsey family has also been well researched. Perhaps your Ashford is descended from one of the others heirs!
My Ashford's father was Joseph Q. of NC or Blackburn Q. of Spartanburg. I have seen the previous posting about your Ashford being the Mill Super in Mayo. I look forward to hearing about your Quinn line.
