Roger Marmion, Norman, from Fontenay-le-Marmion, cont. Bourguebus, Calvados. Son of Robert Marmion and Hadvisa, who became a nun of Caen in 1106 following the death of her husband. Brother of Helto and Manasser. He married the daughter and coheiress of Urse of Abitot. He occurs in the Lindsey Survey c 1115-18, and was probably still alive in 1113 when his son Robert made a grant to Bermondsey, but was dead in 1129. Tenant of Peterorough Abbey c. 1100-16. Hugh Candidus, p 58, identified the holdings as follows: 'Robertus Marmioun tenet feoda trium militum et dimidium in Norhantonescire, seilicet in Langetone, Warwicscire, seilicet, Filingele cum pertinentiis. Filigele est caput tenementi quod Roberus Marmioun tenet de abbate de Burgo in Arderne, ad quod pertinent Leyre, et Smarketone, et Odestone.' [Domesday Descendants p1032]
