Greetings,
I have stumbled upon your website and found many details about my
family history. I?m hoping that you can add a little more to what Iknow and/or put me in touch with some of my other relatives thathave contributed information to the site.
My name is Mark Edward Barnes b8/8/1963 (I have 2 brothers Gary
Herbert & Roger Eugene)
My father is Maurice Edward Barnes b10/10/1919 (the only sibling of
14 still living) in Plainview, NE Spouse is Elvira Bertram-Barnes b12/25/1918 (also still living)
in Staplehurst, NE
My grandfather was Melzar Carlos Barnes b10/2/1874
Spouse was Mary Blanche Bomar b7/3/1885
My great-grandfather was Isaac Carlos Barnes b3/4/1842 (I believe
he was a sergeant in the Civil War) Spouse was Mary Elizabeth Hutchins b4/24/1847
My great-great-grandfather was Lucias Atwater Barnes b1808 or 1809
Spouse was Kezia Almira Dexter (No other info available)
My great- great-great-grandfather was Col. Isaac C. Barnes (I have
no information as to where or when he was born or died) Spouse was Martha Atwater (ditto)
This is where I hit a brick wall. I cannot find anything on Col.
Barnes or his parents or even where he was from. I do know that hefought in the war of 1812 (Mexican).I also believe that he was one of 7 brothers born in Scotland.
I also have some family memories from Sarah Barnes (Melzar?s
sister) about Col. Barnes dieing on a Wednesday and Martha dieingon a Friday of the same week and both being buried on the followingSunday. But, I don?t know what year or where.
It seems that there has been a lot of information contributed by
Deloras Ruth Barnes and Dorothy Odom Bruce who are my cousins.Perhaps you can put me in touch with them.
