Here is the information I have on my husband's Tangeman's:
Generation 1
Herman Tangeman was born Abt. 1822 in Prussia, Germany. He married Mary Leive.
She was born Abt. 1825 in Prussia, Germany.
Notes for Herman Tangeman:
Was a broiler maker at the Gaar, Scott and Co. This information was found in the
Richmond Directories 1857,1870-71,1876,1881-82, 1883-84. Also the Wayne County,Richmond Ind. 1880 Census.

Henry Tangeman was born July 24, 1851 in Ohio, and died October 7, 1934 in Richmond,
Ind. He married Anna Marie. She was born June 24, 1852 in Mays, Ireland, and died inJuly 1926 in Richmond, Ind.

Henry Tangeman, 83, died Sunday morning at 5 o'clock at his home, 439 South Eighth
Street, after an extended illness. Mr. Tangeman was born in Ohio, July 24, 1851. Hewas a cabinet maker by trade. His wife died eight years ago. Survivors are onedaughter, Mrs. Sadie Brocamp, Hollywood, Calif: four grandchildren Mrs. EverettBrinley, this city;Austin Brocamp, Hollywood, Calif; Edward and Marie Tangeman, of this city, and four
great grandchildren. Requeim will be said at St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday, incharge of Rev. Walter Cronin and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends maycall at the Unser & Waltermann Funeral Home any time.

Hello!
My husband and I are doing family research and we came across the Tangeman's that you
have on your web site. My husband is a direct line to the Tangeman's in Richmond Ind.His mother was a Tangeman. The surname is very uncommon and I have only seen them inOhio, Iowa, and Nebraska on the Internet, even when I knew a group were living in Ind.My Question is that the names of your Tangeman's are very similar to the ones we haverecords on so I feel they must have been related some how?? Possibly Cousins??? I willgive the info we have and maybe you might have a missing link.
First off in the 1880 Wayne County Census it lists a Herman Tangeman from Prussia.

Mary Tangeman nee Leive White F 55 years old, Wife, Born in Prussia
Lewis Tangeman White Male 28 years old, Born in Ohio
John Tangeman White Male 25 years old, Born in Ohio

Also a Henry Tangeman which was my husband's great-great grandfather. He was born July
24, 1851 in Ohio and was a cabinet maker. His children were Edward Aloysius Tangeman,Sadie, and Anna.
A Charles Tangeman was also in Richmond and was probably one of Herman children but
not proven. In the 1880 census he was married and 31 years of age. His children werePearly and John.
