La Vonne and her first husband lived in Beresford, SD.
She remarried after her first husband's death; and, the
couple later lived in Hawarden, IA and McCook Lake
After her second husband died, La Vonne moved back to
Hawarden, IA in 1989. La Vonne moved to the Hass Hillcrest Care Center in
Hawarden, IA on 24 May 1991. Info from obits of La Vonne, her mother, and her sister,
Maxine Rhead; and from La Vonne's grave marker
inscription, which lists her name as La Vonne Singer
Johnke.

in 1898. It was Beresford's second newspaper.
No copies of issues that were published
before 1897 are known to exist. The volume
and issue numbers published on the front page
were sometimes inconsistent with those published
during the paper's earliest years and were
therefore unreliable. Publication dates are a
more reliable means of identifying specific issues.
