Notes from David M. Noel (1992):

Enlisted at Albion, New York August 4, 1863, and was discharged July 6, 1865 in Rochester. Served in 14th New York Heavy Artillery, Company B. Taken prisoner at Fort Steadman, Petersburg, Virginia, March 25, 1865, and held as prisoner in Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia, for five days. Married Gusty Smith on July 30, 1865. Moved to Michigan in 1875. On October 31, 1875 he married Elizabeth Jowsey.
