Lewis McKeachie  was adopted in 1851, by Jedediah Morgan Grant and he came to Salt Lake City, Utah in late 1851 at the age of 12 yrs. old. Some records in Scotland show his name as Grant Lewis McKeachie, born 12 Feb 1839 in Eldredge, Renfrew, Scotland. Lewis's step-father was William McKeachie, his mother was Lindsay Morrison McDonald. William and Lindsay were married in 1840 at Renfrew, Scotland. There is some debat on the fact that Lewis was always a GRANT and born out of wedlock. We have also found records in Renfrew, Scotland showing his name as Grant Lewis McDonald, born 1839 to Lindsay M McDonald in Eldredge, Renfrew, Scotland
