Individual:
Joseph and Mary Rose were 1st cousin's that would make their mothers, sisters.
There are different versions of where Mary Rose & Joseph met and married and neither have bee n able to be documented yet. Joseph Gloverwas found in the 1880 census in New Jersey with his parents, brother and visiting cousins Mary Rose and Anna Barkdull. I suspect that Joseph's mother Anna M is Anna Mariah Barkdull, thereby making Joseph and Mary Rose 1st cousins. There is a photo with handwritten entries that Mary Rose and Joseph met while living with Glovers in Kentucky.(M)
Mary Rose died young. Florella, Jessie and James went to live with Mary Roses sister (Aunt Ol ive)and her husband . Thorne and Lewis stayed in New Jersey with their father and Uncle. This account also agrees with some of my dads memory. All of Mary Roses sisters were living in St. Louis. Mary Rose's sisters were Olive, Louise and Anna Sarah who never married.
There is a copy of their marriage certicate in Haddon Heights, Camden Co., New Jersey at th e home of Joseph's father John Thorne Glover.
The marriage certificate gave both the bride and the grooms mothers maiden names. That whe n I discovered the answer to the cousin mystery. Mary Rose Barkdull's mother was the sister of Joseph Glovers mother Florella Page. John T (Joseph's father) was first married to Florella Page. Although I have not found documentation yet for the death of Florella Page Glover I am assuming that she must have died either giving birth or shortly thereafter. My reason is as follows. Florella Page is living in the Camden/Haddon Heights area in the 1850 census. She is living with a farm family and is probably a servant. By the 1860 census, John T Glover has two infant sons, James born in 1858 and Joseph in Feb of 1860 (before the census no doubt) By census time John T is living with two infant sons and no wife. By the 1870 census he is married to Anna M (who was Anna M. Whitall). She was a step mother to the boys, not their mother
