Notes
Individual:
The Wallace Family parents unknown at this time, consisted of John,Robert and

Rachael came to Canada from northern Ireland in 1830 by sailing ship. On board there was als o a family called Cooper it consisted of Ann, Paul, Thomas, James,Benjamin, John and Jacob. The journey took eight weeks. During this time several romances took place on board ship. John Wallace married Ann Cooper, shortly after they arrived in Canada Rachael Wallace married Ann's brother Paul Cooper. Robert Wallace was travelling alone as his wife either refused to come with him to Canada or had passed away prior to their leaving Ireland. John was 20 years of age and Ann was 17 when they were married. The Wallace Family settled in Wrightsville Quebec, the Cooper Family settled in Three Rivers Quebec. James and Thomas Cooper were stonemasons and helped to build the arches around the windows of the parliament buildings in Ottawa. During this period they lived in Hull, Quebec. To get to work in Ottawa, on Monday they swam across the river with their clothes tied to the back of their neck at weeks end Saturday they swam back to Hull again. They remained in Wrightsville until the Rideau Locks were built, then both the Cooper and Wallace Families moved to North Osgoode area (between Metcalfe and #31 Hwy) 7th Concession.

From marriage register of Rev. E Healy, Wesleyan Methodist Minister:
John Wallace of Hull L.C. and Ann Cooper of By Town 19 Sept. 1834
at By Town. w. Robert Wallace, Paul Cooper.

John and his father appear on Col. By's rent rolls for 1829 with 2
houses on Murray St. Subsequently moved to Hull Quebec onto land
leased from Philemon Wright in an area known as Wrightville. Began
clearing land in Osgoode Twp. with his brothers and brother-in-law Paul
Cooper no later than 1837 and permanently had moved there by 1840.
