Individual:
The Whittle family came from Amherst Co, VA. Rev John was the first pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Laurens CO, GA. Rev Whittle served as a Grand Juror in Washington Co, GA during the March term, 1829.

(abt 1776) There were Parishes of the Anglican Church on the coast around Augusta and Savannah but the rest of Georgia was Indian territory. Rev. John Whittle that i have record of was born in Amherst county VA in January 1771, removed to Edgefield District SC with his father around 1790, then to Washington county GA where he married Winnifred Sanford in 1791. He was the father of Sarah Whittle who married William Barwick II The Barwicks moved to what is now Brooks county GA around 1850 and founded the town of Barwick that is in Brooks county just over the line from Thomas county GA. i am a descendant of Rev.
