Jabey 54 yoa,
Alcey 46 yoa,
Reuben 20 yoa,
James 18 yoa,
CARRICK 10 yoa,
John 9 yoa.
1860 census, 13th Civil District, Knox Co., TN shows the following family members:
Jabez 65 yoa,
Abbie (should be Alcey) 57 yoa,
HENRY 20 yoa,
John Tyler 19 yoa
Josephine 18 yoa
On January 19, 1999, I received information on Henry and his descendants from Jeff Berry, Knoxville, TN. Jeff provided information that Carl Rudder and Jeff's father, G. Edward Berry, had researched.
April 18, 1862, Knoxville, Knox Co., Tennessee;
Henry's military records show that during the Civil War he was a volunteer in the 6th Regiment, Company C, East Tennessee Volunteers, Infantry Federal Army, that he was a prisoner of war "Present at Camp Wallace, October 31, 1862 "Par. Pris. (Parole Prisoner) at CC Ohio" date not given, transferred December 18, 1862.
I have copies of several letters Henry and Lucinda wrote back and forth during the war. He died 4PM, April 15, 1865 in Douglas Hospital, Washington D.C., of smallpox and diptheria at the end of the war. (death record is in file)
He is buried in Arlington Cemetery, Fort Meyers, VA., one of only 4 Tennesseans who died during the war to be buried there.
I believe his middle name, Carrick, came from a popular minister that was in Knox County area about the time Henry was born.
