Individual:
Nathaniel Reed appears in the 1761 tax digest with Elijah/ElishaIsaacs. The other is from family tradition. Asa Reed, b. 1793,was the s/o William Reed and Frances Robins. His descendantshave a family story that he was related to General DanielMorgan; Tom Morgan wrote me that Samuel Isaac's grandson marriedDaniel Morgan's niece. (from Dot Barnum, contributor to AReed-Robins Family of the Southeastern US.) From Dot Barnum:I'm the only author (of 4 of us) who is on the internet. Wewrote A Reed-Robins Family of the Southeastern US.Unfortunately, I concentrated on collecting the latergenerations; Kay Reed Bedford and Aryl Jeanne Reed, with GlendaSwaim, worked on the early generations. We have no proof thatRebecca Isaacs married Nathaniel Reed. The book clearly states,"This is pure speculation, but we think ..." What we have is twobits of information: Nathaniel Reed appears in the 1761 taxdigest with Elijah/Elisha Isaacs. The other is from familytradition. Asa Reed, b. 1793, was the s/o William Reed andFrances Robins. His descendants have a family story that he wasrelated to General Daniel Morgan; Tom Morgan wrote me thatSamuel Isaac's grandson married Daniel Morgan's niece. Aryl isnot convinced, and thinks that Nathaniel may have married beforecoming in contact with the Isaacs family. Our real problem isthat Nathaniel descended from the Heavens to NC. We just can'tprove his origins. We met in Raleigh in November and spent aweek at the Archives going through loose papers trying to findsome clue ... no luck. We did go see Polecat Creek and theCentre Meeting House. If you would like to correspond with Kay,and need her address, let me know. I'll also be glad to send youcopies of the pages on Reed in NC from the book, if you areinterested. Kay wrote the chapter, and we do have references.Good searching, and wish us luck!! Dot
