Martha was affectionately called "Polly." According to theBenson Book, Martha was born in Easton, Washington County(formerly Albany County), New York. This was figured out due towhere the Benson's lived at the time when she was born. Marthawas affectionately called "Polly." Her father, Daniel Benson hadmoved the family there to Easton in the early 1770's. They werefollowing her grandfather who was one of the first settlersthere. The family was still there in 1790 according to thatyears U.S. Census. In 1798 Daniel moved his family to Fabius,Onondaga County, New York. They are shown there in the 1800census.
