Information was received from St. Francis DeSales Parish in Ossian, Winneshiek, Ia. on February 26, 2001. Information was provided by St. Francis's Parish Secretary, Denise Unlenhake.
The Rev. August Sauter, Pastor presided over the burial.
Information from Jeanne Charpentier, Mary Corne and Fred Frerich's granddaughter, gives the following: " According to the ' History of Winnesheik and Allamakee'. printed 1920, Herman arrived in the US in 1847 and moved to Iowa in 1854. The exact article reads as follows:
Herman Ferick, of Ossian, was born in Germany, emigrated to America in 1847, and settled in Wis., thence in 1854 to Io., settling in Military Township. He was married in 1851 to Kate Pieper: their children are Herman, Louisa, Henry, Lewis, Clement, Kate, William, Joseph and Emma. "
