Individual:
On 4 Jul 1798 John N Armstrong of Seneca Town sold land to Alexander Armstrong of the same location for $$670.
On 20 Jan 1808, Robert Armstrong of âÇútown of Vernon county of OntarioâÇù sold land for $400 to Alexander Armstrong of Seneca Town, Ontario Co, adjoining John McLeanâÇôs.
It is speculation that he is brother to the other 3, based on place of origin, also the marriages with Chapmans. Carol Anders wrote ABB in 1990 that Sarah and George had brother Alexander, whose children were
Martin Nailor, b 1801 [Nailor is listed along with other common Scotch-Irish names in early Cumberland Co PA. James Armstrong listed specifically in this source, Ancestry.com.]
Elizabeth, 1803
Sarah 1805
George, 1807
Alexander McLean, 1809
There were possibly two Alexander Armstrongs in Geneva NY.
This man may have been bro/o James & George from Somerset Co NJ:
1800 Geneva, Ontario Co NY, 10001/10201
1810 Seneca Twp, Ontario Co NY, 00001/0
This man from PA was clearly this Alexander:
1820 Seneca Twp, Ontario Co NY, 100201/11010 (clearly this man)
1830 Seneca Twp, Ontario Co NY, 111010001/1010001
1840 Freedom Tp, Washtenaw Co MI: 0011100001/00100001
1850 Lodi Two, Washtenaw Co MI, 87 b PA, w/Grissel, 60, George, 34 NY, Alexander, 20 NY
It appears that he was alone in 1810, but married or remarried in 1820 and might have been rejoined by two sons 16-26.
There are several Armstrong-Chapman marriages in this family.
His daughterâÇôs bio stated he had 7 children, 2 living in 1891. One older son is prob John D. of Washtenaw Co, 1840 census.
Alexander Armstrong of Mercer Co PA, 1810, had 5 sons and 2 dts.
