Individual:
NOTE: Another source says Lucy was born in Athens Co., Ohio.
Death certificate, census, two marriage records. For decades her burial site was unmarked. Then, in September 2008, there was a
small stone marker for Lucy Peterson DOYLE found in the general area
where family oral history has said she was buried. There is a roadway that
goes thru the cemetery, When you are on that driveway, near the William O.
PAYNE stone, but closer to the roadway, there is a stone marking the burial
site of Lucy. According to Mr. Steve RICE (whose family owns and manages the
cemetery), yes, there had been a fire in the 1930s such that all records at the
cemetery were destroyed. That meant there was no way to tell who had been
buried where if the grave was not marked. However, after Mr. Rice's father
died in 2004, Mr. Rice found old records in a bank storage box. With those
records, Mr. Rice was able to say that the Lucy Peterson stone is in the site
where Lucy was buried. ... Who arranged to have the stone put there or when
the stone was put there, Mr. Rice does not know. Lucy died in 1883. Her daughter Susannah (from Lucy's first marriage)
died in 1891. Susannah was buried next to her mother.
